Comments on the Liberal Party Electoral Reform Policy 2010

Sadly beyond a couple of well meaning statements on the Liberal Party website such as -

“We believe in parliamentary democracy as the best system for the expression and fulfillment of the aspirations of a free people,” and

“Liberals believe in free, open, honest and robustly democratic public institutions,”

the Electoral Reform Society could find no further mention of anything looking like electoral reform.

The Society has written to both the Liberal Party and the Shadow Attorney-General Vickie Chapman but there has been no response from either.

This is in complete contrast to the last State election, when the Liberal Party had a specific Parliamentary and Electoral Reform Policy.

Based on this complete lack of interest in electoral reform, the Electoral Reform Society can but agree with the Labor Party that the Liberals are not yet ready to govern.
